Stanza by Benjamin Socolofsky

Stanza

hush · issue 7

this room
makes a complete
dog of myself

         i gather i animal
like that even though the shape
         seems anatomical, forgetting:

         verb comes before noun
         and repetition before attrition

a song is stuck
in my head
i'm trying to sing

i pull apart
body and mind

organ:
“body part adapted to a certain function” also:
“this timbre which shakes the rafters” the ear

                the eye

                                reproduce

         thought

i heard the friction
of your clothes

pale leaves
waving, lucid glass
contains their composure

         trying to sing

at some point all melody
becomes noise
